Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Match Counsel collects, how we use it, when we share it with our marketing partners, and the choices and rights you have over your data.

Last updated: June 25, 2026

In plain terms: Match Counsel is an attorney-matching and referral service — not a law firm. When you register, the contact information you provide may be shared with attorneys in our partner network and with our marketing partners so they can contact you about the products and services you consented to receive. You can opt out at any time.

1. Who we are

Match Counsel ("Match Counsel," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at match-counsel.com and provides an attorney-matching and referral service that connects consumers with independent attorneys through our legal partner network. Match Counsel is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice or representation, and using our service does not create an attorney-client relationship. This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through our website and registration forms.

2. Information we collect

When you register or otherwise interact with us, we collect the information you provide directly, including:

  • Identity and contact data: first name, last name, email address, and phone number.
  • Postal address data: street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
  • Consent and registration data: the fact that you checked the consent box, the date and time of your consent, the language you agreed to, and the page you submitted it from.
  • Case-interest data: any details you choose to share about the type of legal matter you are seeking help with.

We also automatically collect limited technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and verification status (for example, whether you confirmed your email through our double opt-in link). We use a double opt-in process: after you register, we email you a verification link, and we begin marketing contact only after you confirm.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Connect you with an attorney in our legal partner network based on the details you provide;
  • Verify your registration through our double opt-in email confirmation;
  • Contact you — and allow our marketing partners to contact you — with marketing emails, calls, and text messages about relevant products and services, as you consented;
  • Maintain records of your consent as required by law;
  • Operate, secure, analyze, and improve our website and services; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. How we share your information with partners

This is the core of how our service works, so we want to be clear. When you register and provide consent, we may share the contact data you submitted — including your name, email address, phone number, and postal address — with:

  • Attorneys and law firms in our legal partner network, so they can contact you about your potential legal matter; and
  • Our marketing partners, so they may contact you with marketing emails, calls, and text messages about relevant products and services — strictly for the purposes you consented to when you checked the consent box.

We may also share information with service providers who process data on our behalf (such as hosting, email delivery, telephony, and analytics providers) under contractual confidentiality obligations, and where required to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety. We do not share your information for purposes you did not consent to.

Because you consent to receive marketing calls and text messages that may use automated technology and/or prerecorded messages, the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) requires us to keep records of that consent. We retain records of your TCPA consent — including the consent language, the date and time you agreed, and related submission details — for a minimum of five (5) years after the consent is given or after our last communication with you, whichever is later, even if you later opt out. These records are kept to demonstrate that consent was obtained and to comply with applicable law.

6. Your choices and how to opt out

Your consent is voluntary and is never a condition of any purchase. You can opt out at any time:

  • Text messages: reply STOP to any marketing text to stop further texts.
  • Emails: click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email.
  • Calls and everything else: email us at privacy@match-counsel.com and ask to be removed.

Opting out of marketing does not delete the TCPA consent records we are required to retain, as described above. Message and data rates may apply to text messages.

7. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and "share";
  • Access and request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • Delete personal information we have collected, subject to legal exceptions (including our obligation to retain TCPA consent records);
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; and
  • Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of these rights.

Our sharing of your contact data with marketing partners may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under California law. To opt out, email privacy@match-counsel.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information," or use the opt-out methods in Section 6. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will verify your request before acting on it and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Children and minors

Our services are intended only for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and you must be at least 18 to register. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us information, please contact us at privacy@match-counsel.com and we will delete it.

9. Data retention

We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, then delete or de-identify it. As noted in Section 5, we retain TCPA consent records for at least five (5) years to comply with our legal obligations. Some information may be retained longer where required by law or to resolve disputes.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of our services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
